Join us in supporting Jayson Zander Gaddis, our beloved son born on 11/28/23. Unfortunately, his birth was a challenging and traumatic experience for both him and his mother, April. After nearly 60 hours of intense back labor, April underwent an emergency C-section, as her epidural wore off unexpectedly. Upon delivery, Jayson was found lodged in her pelvis and required extensive resuscitation efforts for 15 minutes before he started breathing. Due to this ordeal, he was immediately transferred to OU Children's NICU for cooling therapy to prevent brain swelling or damage.

Thankfully, Jayson has shown promising progress in various aspects of his health. He passed his hearing test and displayed no signs of lung complications. However, he is experiencing delays in his gag, suck, and swallow reflexes, and an MRI scan revealed some brain damage. Our stay in the NICU lasted 32 days, and upon discharge, Jayson required G Tube surgery as he was still unable to feed orally.

Since returning home on 12/30/23, we have been tirelessly working to provide Jayson with the necessary treatments, including physical therapy, chiropractic care, speech therapy, swallow studies, and regular doctor visits. Our daily routine now consists of an average of two doctor visits. While it has been a challenging journey, we have managed to establish a good schedule.

However, the costs of Jayson's medical treatments, coupled with the 32-day NICU stay, have accumulated rapidly. Despite our preference for privacy, we have come to the realization that we need to reach out and ask for assistance in order to afford the ongoing appointments and therapies Jayson requires. While we cannot predict how long it will take for him to feed orally, we remain hopeful and rely on prayer for his progress.
