Jay and I have been friends and coparents for 26 years, sharing a wonderful 21-year-old daughter. Even though we have been divorced for many years, our bond has remained strong, and we have always supported each other as we raised our daughter together. Watching her see her dad go through such a difficult time has been heartbreaking for both of us.

In early November, Jay suffered a major stroke that changed everything. He spent about a month in the ICU, followed by several weeks in intermediate care. As of January 2026, Jay is now in his second rehabilitation facility, working hard every day to relearn basic skills like feeding himself, communicating, and walking. The trauma he has endured is immense, and his recovery journey will be long and challenging.

Because Jay is unable to work for the foreseeable future, and with the high deductibles and copays for his ongoing care, the financial burden has become overwhelming.
