On Tuesday morning, Jay was involved in a severe car accident. His wife, Sara, rushed to the scene expecting a minor collision, but instead found Jay being prepared for life-flight transport to Osceola Regional Medical Center. Doctors discovered significant brain swelling and bleeding, and he underwent emergency surgery to remove a portion of his skull to relieve the pressure. His condition was initially described as critical with little chance of waking.
But if you know Jay, you know he’s nothing if not stubborn and tough. Against the odds, he’s showing steady signs of improvement—impressing his medical team day by day. He remains sedated and resting, with more surgeries planned in the days ahead.
While Jay fights his battle, Sara has been doing exactly what we’d expect from her: standing strong by his side, fiercely loyal, relentlessly supportive, and refusing to ask for anything for herself or their family. That’s why we’re stepping in—because she won’t. She doesn’t know we’re organizing this fundraiser (those familiar with her rodeo energy understand the danger of getting caught!) but it’s worth it!
Why We’re Asking for Help
The road ahead will be long. Between medical bills, time away from work, travel expenses, and the unknowns that come with brain trauma recovery, we want to ensure that Sara and Jay don’t have to worry about anything but healing. Any contribution—whether big, small, or simply sharing this page—helps ease that burden.
How You Can Help
• Donate if you’re able
• Share this fundraiser to friends and community members
• Send love, prayers, and encouragement for continued healing
We can’t wait for the day we get to celebrate his recovery and raise a drink together again.
Thank you for your support, your compassion, and your faith in Jay’s fight.
