Hi, my name is Sammi, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my stepdad, Jay, and my mom.

Last week, our family experienced something terrifying. Jay suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors attempted to place a stent, but due to severe calcification in his coronary arteries, the procedure was unsuccessful. He is now scheduled to undergo open-heart surgery on Monday (3/2). After surgery, his hospital stay in total will equal almost 2 weeks.

Jay’s whole world is his six grandbabies. He is the kind of man who is always there for us three girls—me and my sisters—whenever we need him. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

During his recovery, Jay will be out of work for at least 8 weeks. He is the primary source of income for their household, and while my mom receives disability, short-term disability will only cover his insurance. That leaves regular living expenses—like mortgage, utilities, groceries, and gas for hospital visits—uncovered, along with medical costs not fully covered by insurance.

Our goal with this fundraiser is to help ease their financial stress so Jay can focus entirely on healing and getting back to the people who mean everything to him, especially his grandbabies. Along with my mom's main focus to take care of him during this time.
