Help Jaylin See the World More Clearly

Our son Jaylin Fatu Peebler aka “JJ” is turning 16 in October as most kids turning 16 are asking for a new car for their birthday but his birthday wishes were deeper then that, his birthday wish is simple—but life-changing: to see better. He halfway jokingly asked us if we could “help him fix his vision”

Jaylin was born with a rare condition called optic nerve hypoplasia, which severely limits his vision. Although he wears glasses, most people don’t realize how much he still struggles to see. Even with correction, his vision is about 50–60% less clear than the average person’s. A few weeks ago, we stopped at a sign and asked him to read the street name. He just paused—he couldn’t see it clearly enough to respond. Moments like this remind us how much he quietly endures every day.

Jaylin loves basketball, but his condition affects his depth perception as well, making it difficult to judge distances or catch passes. Despite the challenges, he plays with heart and determination.

After years of searching for answers, we were referred by Dr. Beres at Stanford Children’s Hospital to the Fedorov Restore Vision Clinic in Germany. This clinic offers a two-week treatment using electrical stimulation to reactivate dormant optic nerve cells—and Jaylin has been officially accepted into the program after they reviewed all of his medical tests and records that we have for him. The results for patients like him have been incredibly promising.

While most teens are preparing for driving tests, we’re hoping Jaylin gets the chance to experience something many take for granted: clearer vision and greater independence.

For years, we've prayed and asked God to move mountains for us. Now we've asked God to heal our son's eyesight. God is guiding us to medical professionals overseas who can help restore his vision.
