I’m sharing a difficult situation involving my little sister. I am hoping to get some help, support, and prayers for her.
My sister, Jaylin, is just 30 years old. She's a wife and mother of two. After having a c-section delivering her son, she was prescribed opioid meds, and tragically became addicted. We all have either lived through an addiction or had close family or friends that have. We all know how ugly and unfair it is. She overcame her addiction and has now been sober for seven years, praise God! However, the medication required to maintain her sobriety unfortunately led to the rotting and loss of her teeth.
All of them. In her twenties.
Two years ago, Jaylin underwent dental implant surgery and it was monstrously unsuccessful. The surgery cost her $24,000, and she is now in worse shape than when she started. She is attempting to get a refund but proving malpractice is extremely difficult.
My baby sister went through so much physical pain from the surgery and “recovery.” She’s been fighting for 2 years all the while living without teeth. This is not just cosmetic. Try to imagine the emotional and mental toll this would have on anyone. She’s been dealing with severe depression, social withdrawal, and her self-esteem has been demolished. I did not see my sweet sister for a over a year because of the mental and emotional (not to mention all the unnecessary physical) turmoil she has gone (and continues to go) through. It’s taken years of her life away from her.
She has consulted a specialist and learned she must start the process over. But first, she will have to have the original implants surgically removed. The cost for all of this will be nearly $50,000. This is a financial burden her family cannot meet. So everything is currently at a standstill. A deposit of over half is required to even begin the process: $38,500.
All we want is to see Jaylin feeling like herself, loving herself, and smiling again. She’s fought so hard to get and keep herself sober. She deserves this renewed chance, her husband and kids deserve their wife and mommy back.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity. God bless you.
Much love,
Nikki
*Any funds will go into an account shared by Jaylin and our mother Janice Stempien specifically for this procedure. Thank you again.
