My name is Jaylen, I’m 22 years old and about to graduate from UMass Amherst while also currently serving in the Army National Guard, and I’ve recently been given the opportunity to take the next big step in my career by earning a spot in the next Boston Police Academy starting March 30th.

This is something I’ve worked hard toward for years, and I’m proud to be in a position to serve my community both in the military and now in law enforcement. Unfortunately, we were informed with only about a week’s notice that recruits are responsible for purchasing a significant amount of required equipment for the academy out of pocket. These items are mandatory and must be ready on the very first day.

I’m reaching out for support during this time because the short notice makes it challenging to cover all these costs at once. Any contribution, no matter how small, would truly mean a lot and help me start this journey fully prepared.
