My niece Jayden is 13 and has spent more of her life fighting than most people do in a lifetime. She had a kidney transplant at 3, battled brain cancer at 5, and still came out shining. She loves music, her dog, giving gifts, being with her family, and she loves Jesus with her whole heart. She truly is just a kid with the biggest, kindest soul.
Now her kidney is in severe rejection, and we’re facing another mountain. Jayden has undergone several surgeries in the month of December so she can receive dialysis at UVA until a match for a kidney is found! Jayden’s mom, Shanna, is a single mother of 3 who has recently stopped working due to the long hospital stays and the 24-hour care Jayden now needs.(She’s on unpaid FMLA, which keeps her job safe, but it also means she isn’t getting a check during this time) We recently did a CashApp/Venmo request but have had so many messages and calls asking to do a GoFundMe. We are requesting assistance from the community to help Jayden, Shanna, and her family to be able to pay bills comfortably, travel to UVA multiple times a week, and get things Jayden needs without hesitation.
