Hello, my name's Maria. I'm raising money for my 1-year-old son, Jayce. He was born a preemie at 36 weeks. He was born with a hole in his heart and needed oxygen, which had him in the NICU for a month.
Since he was born, I noticed his head was long with his forehead coming forward. I kept telling doctors, "Something's wrong. Why is his head growing longways?" They just brushed it off and said, "He's fine; he will just grow into it."
Until he was 8 months old, doctors finally listened and did a CT scan. They saw he had Craniosynostosis, a rare birth defect that occurs when the fibrous joints between a baby's skull bones fuse too early, before the brain is fully formed. The only way to help him is head surgery to reconstruct his skull. If doctors would've listened since he was first born, he wouldn't have needed this surgery, and we could've gone a different route to help him with a helmet.
All I'm asking for is some help to cover his medical expenses.
