Jay Pebria has been a proud union ironworker for nearly twenty years, having joined the trade at just eighteen years old. As the sole provider for his family, Jay has spent his career commuting across the Bay Area, the Central Valley, and even out of state to support his loved ones. On Monday, January 6, 2026, everything changed in an instant. Jay was a passenger in a vehicle with the right of way when a reckless driver ran a stop sign at high speed and violently struck them. The front of the vehicle was completely crushed, trapping Jay inside. Emergency responders had to cut him out of the wreckage. As Jay lay trapped, suffering from life-threatening injuries, the at-fault driver showed no remorse, screaming profanities and berating the victims. This reckless act harmed not just one person, but two families, as the driver’s coworker was also in the vehicle. Jay sustained severe and traumatic injuries, including six broken ribs, a broken femur, a broken arm, and a collapsed lung. He has already undergone multiple surgeries and faces a long, painful road to recovery. Along with the physical trauma, Jay now faces PTSD, emotional suffering, and overwhelming financial instability. This life-altering incident may mean Jay is never able to return to the career he is so passionate about and loves. One person’s reckless decision has completely turned Jay’s life and his family’s upside down. The months and years ahead will be filled with medical care, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and financial hardship. The emotional and financial toll is overwhelming, and the costs will likely impact this family for a lifetime. We are asking for support to help Jay and his family through this incredibly difficult time. Any donation, share, or kind word means more than we can express. Thank you for standing with Jay as he fights to heal and rebuild his life.
