Jaxson Lunceford is just 22 years old, and his life has been shaped by a heart defect that has made every day a challenge. With his heart functioning at only 50% capacity, he has endured multiple surgeries and ongoing health struggles. Recently, his condition took a turn for the worse—his heart failed, and he is now on ECMO at Intermountain Medical Center, waiting for a heart transplant. According to his medical team, he is the most critical case in their system and is level 1 on the transplant list.
My daughter, Ashtyn Albrethsen, has been by his side, caring for him 12 hours a day. Both Jaxson and Ashtyn are unable to work, and the financial strain is mounting. They have a condo together, and we are deeply worried about them losing their home or being overwhelmed by medical debt on top of everything else they are facing.
The funds raised will go directly toward their living expenses, medical care—including the cost of over 10 medications Jaxson needs—the transplant itself, hospital bills, and ongoing weekly doctor appointments and rehabilitation as well as post-transplant care. This support will allow them to focus on Jaxson’s recovery without the added stress of financial hardship.
We are so grateful for any support. Young people facing unimaginable trauma should not have to lose their home or be burdened with overwhelming medical debt. Your help will bring relief and hope to Jaxson and Ashtyn during this critical time. Both Jaxson and Ashtyn are incredible, strong, compassionate, and wonderful people.
