Hello, my name is Rita Black. My grandson Jaxson Swartout has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) - also known as Leukemia Type B.
Jaxson is the only child of Paul & Sthefany Swartout. He is only 1 1/2 years old and has a long road ahead of him. His parents took Jaxson to ER on Friday, Feb 21st and he has been in the hospital ever since. Jaxson is in the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Advent Children’s Hospital. On Monday, Feb 23rd, he had bone marrow testing, a port installed, and chemo. Update: Jaxson is now out of the hospital, however he needs to return for chemotherapy 2 times per week for approx 7 months and then once per week. The entire process is expected to last 2 1/2 years.
Both parents have full time jobs and will need to take time off to dedicate themselves to Jaxson’s care. Sthefany may need to take extended time off of work to care for Jaxson, as he will be unable to return to daycare during his treatment.
All proceeds will go directly to the family to pay for medical and/or living expenses. If you prefer to donate directly to the family, Paul’s Venmo is @Paul0821.
Paul & Sthefany have requested that any questions be directed to me, Rita Black, Ali Black, or Rex & Stacie Hudson (Paul’s parents) so they are not overwhelmed with calls and messages during this difficult time. I am sure that they will be reaching out to family and friends when things calm down, however right now they are focused on their son’s healing.
Please use facebook messenger to contact us. If you prefer to speak to one of us directly, send a PM and we can either call you back or send our contact info. Also, if you would like to send a card, please send a PM for the info or contact another family member.
