This is Jax — our 10-year-old Great Dane/Labrador mix and the sweetest, most loving pup you could ever meet. If you've had the joy of knowing Jax, you know how gentle and friendly he is. He loves everyone, though sometimes his size can make people a little unsure. But we know he's just a big, lovable teddy bear.
Jax means the world to my wife, Meagan, and me. He's been by our side through so much, and now we're doing everything we can to be there for him. Recently, Jax was diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma. Meagan first noticed something was wrong when she was brushing his teeth, and after a biopsy confirmed our fears, we acted quickly. We took him to the incredible team at Veterinary Referral Associates (VRA) in Gaithersburg, MD. Thanks to Dr. Ben and Dr. Chen, Jax underwent surgery to remove the tumor. He handled the anesthesia like a champ and is now in full recovery mode.
We're still waiting for the biopsy results to ensure the cancer hasn't spread, and we're staying positive every step of the way. Unfortunately, as many pet owners know, medical care for our furry family members can be incredibly expensive. Despite having pet insurance, the costs have already soared over $10,000. While no amount of money would ever stop us from getting Jax the care he needs, we're facing this financial challenge while also trying to buy our first home — a place where Jax could finally have the yard he deserves.
Jax has brought so much joy and love to our lives, and we know he's touched many of yours too. If you're able to contribute, no matter the amount, we would be endlessly grateful. Every bit helps us continue giving Jax the best care possible.
Thank you so much for your support, love, and kindness. We'll keep you updated on Jax's recovery every step of the way.
With love,
Meagan and Scotty and Jax
