My name is Jawn Derrik Skains. I’m a father in Texas working to stabilize my life after a difficult period of transition.
Over the past year, I went through a divorce after being a stay-at-home father for a period of time. During that process, I was not able to secure legal representation, and the financial strain that followed has taken time to recover from. Like many people rebuilding after major life changes, I’ve been working hard to get back on stable ground.
Recently, I lost a job that I had been relying on to keep up with my rent and basic expenses. I was told I would receive a final paycheck to help with the transition, but that payment never came. In the meantime, I’ve sold and pawned most of what I own just to keep moving forward and cover essential costs.
At the moment, I’m about two months behind on rent ($1,850) and trying to bridge the gap until I secure stable income again. The good news is that I have job interviews scheduled next week, and I’m actively pushing forward to rebuild stability.
I’m asking for help raising $2,800, which would allow me to:
• Catch up on overdue rent
• Cover basic living expenses and transportation
• Stay housed while I complete interviews and secure work
This is a temporary moment that I’m working hard to move through with integrity. Any support, no matter the size, would make a real difference in helping me stay on my feet while I take the next steps forward.
If donating isn’t possible, sharing this page would also mean a great deal.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any kindness you can offer.
