Hello everyone, my name is Javier Rosario and I currently reside in Broward County, Florida. I've lived here for almost 22 years, although I'm originally from Puerto Rico. I am a 50-year-old father working hard every day, paycheck to paycheck. I have a wife and 2 adult children, ages 21 and 31. My wife and I have been together for 33 years, and like any other marriage, we've had our ups and downs, good times and bad times. Growing up, my teeth were all crooked, and I hardly ever smiled. If I did, I would cover my mouth. At school, they used to call me “little vampire,” which, of course, didn’t help my self-esteem. My wonderful mother, to this day, I have no idea how she did it, was able to come up with the money so I could get braces. It was a painful process, and the fact that the dentist needed to remove 4 teeth to make space in my mouth didn’t help. By my 16th birthday, I was all done with it, and I was able to smile without being embarrassed. It was life-changing.
Fast forward to 10/25/25 at 10:31 am. I was helping my wife with our dogs as we do every day. I was crouching instead of sitting down and remained crouched for a while. When I stood up, I felt a rush from my legs up. I knew it was a “head rush,” which I’ve gotten before, but this one was very different, so I lay back onto the door. This time, that didn’t work. I completely blacked out and fell onto the floor. When I came to, I found myself on the floor bleeding and my wife freaking out. Not understanding what had happened, I told her, “Calm down, what’s the problem?” I even remember shaking my head, thinking it was a nightmare, but it was very real. I saw blood on the floor, my shirt, and my hands, and even a dent on the wooden floor. After a few seconds, I realized what had happened. I had cracked my teeth, but one of them was worse than the others. I was taken to the hospital, and they did all sorts of tests on me. They checked my head, face, chest, heart, and even my back. Thankfully, all I had was 3 broken teeth and a bruised chin, nose, and forehead.
When I finally went to the dentist, my worst fears were realized. The dentist has to remove the 3 front teeth and maybe a fourth one next to the one that’s cracked. I figured, well, I'll just get implants and I’ll be good to go. Little did I know, the implants cost $10,000. I almost had a heart attack. Never in my life would I have thought they were so expensive. The other option, option #2, was to remove all affected teeth and put in something called a flipper, whatever that is. This option costs $2,010, which was cheaper than the implants but still expensive. My dentist told me time was against me, so I decided on option 2. I told the dentist it would take me time to come up with the money. Fast forward to last Friday, October 31st. I was taking a nap when I felt the cracked tooth breaking even more and started bleeding from all 3 teeth. I called the dentist and told her what had happened and was told I could be seen Saturday, which was today, 11/01. I had to start the process, so my mother, God bless her, was able to lend me $662, which is the first step and it consisted of creating a mold for both upper and lower teeth. I was afraid that doing that would rip all the loose teeth out, but thankfully that didn’t happen. I was left with so much pain that I thought I was going to pass out again.
I have never used this website, but my mother recommended it, hoping there are good, kind-hearted people out there that could help me with the cost of the treatment. The next stage is the removal of the 3 teeth or possibly 4, and that step is $1,000, which I don’t have. With the economy being like it is today, we, as a family, struggle to even cover the basic necessities, but somehow we always manage to at least get what we need.
I am asking for, actually, begging for help to get this procedure completed, hoping that I would be able to smile again and feel some sort of dignity again. I do also know that I will have to change my eating habits. Basically, like learning to eat again. Please, if you can, help with whatever you can. I would be eternally grateful to you.
