My name is Liliana, and I’m reaching out for support as my father, Javier Balderas, recovers from a heart attack and stroke. Javier is a fun, caring person who always brings laughter to those around him, whether it’s family or friends. He’s cherished by everyone who knows him, and seeing him struggle has been incredibly difficult for us all.

Javier’s health challenges began after he injured himself at work, tearing a muscle in his lower back. Despite treatment and physical therapy, his pain persisted. During a therapy session, he suddenly became confused and unable to stand, which led to the discovery that he was having a stroke. He spent over a week in the hospital and is now in a clinic for ongoing care, where he’ll stay for at least another month. His speech is still impaired, and he’s working hard every day to regain his strength and communication skills.

As his only daughter, I am caring for him on my own. My father’s family is in Mexico, and while friends offer support, the responsibility falls mostly on me. With Javier unable to work, I’m struggling to cover rent, utilities, food, gas for the car, and other household bills. I’m also preparing to return to school and searching for a job, but the expenses are overwhelming. Donations will help us keep our home stable and ensure my father gets the care he needs.
