Support Javier Olarte's Battle Against Cancer

On behalf of my father, Javier Olarte, I am writing to say his journey.

Since November of 2022, he started losing weight, and his appetite, and started having digestive problems and we always thought it was the food that was the problem. Eventually, this caused his diet to change, which would give him a slight relief. But, he still had these "stomach problems".
Since the diet somewhat helped, and the holidays passed. In January 2023, he went to the gastroenterologist and the doctor ordered an endoscopy and colonoscopy ( the nearest appointment was February 20th).
On February 18th, my father started having discomfort and pain throughout the night on the left side of the abdomen and wasn't able to sleep. The morning of, my mother took him to an emergency clinic and when the doctor examined him, they said it might be gallbladder stones and needed surgery to remove such stones. But, also they ordered an ultrasound the same day. That day he was given painkillers to ease the pain and was sent home. He returned on Monday February 20th (when the colonoscopy and endoscopy were originally made for, but it was canceled)
That day, our lives changed. The doctors said it was not gallbladder stones, but instead, they found various masses in his liver and the biggest was 10cm. The doctor said these masses are metasized and is not the primary source, so they ordered a PET scan. The PET scan confirmed it is stage 4 colon cancer with metastasizing to the liver. With these devastating news, my father was told it was better to do palliative treatment; but both my parents did not give up on finding something to start treatment to save his life.
On March 18th, 2023, he started his first round of chemotherapy. To this day, he has completed 11 rounds. Even though he lost 44 pounds. He has never lost his optimism or his will to live. In December 2024, we were given hope, a light; the tumors on his liver were reduced, and was a candidate to receive surgery. However, the results were not what we hoped.
Now he started a second line of chemotherapy rounds. It is a very aggressive form of chemo. We are praying that after completing 3 rounds, my father will have finally recieved his surgery to remove all of the masses within his liver. However, the doctors told us this is a very high-risk and delicate surgery; and may be high-cost.

We are supporting him throughout this process, he never lost his faith that he will be cured and become a triumph of this battle. My father is a fighter.

We are fortunate to have been emotionally supported by family and close friends throughout this process. We have established this GoFundMe page to alleviate some of my father's medical expenses. Any contribution whether large or small, will make a significant difference. If you cannot contribute financially, your prayers and support are equally valued. Sharing this page will also help us reach a broader audience.

May God continue to bless you and your family with an abundance of peace, joy, and love.
En el nombre del Padre, del Hijo, y el Espiritu Santo, Amen.
