On May 10, 2025 my niece went to visit her mom (Javette Cox) and found her to be yellow in color and lethargic. Javette had been battling what she thought was the Noro Virus and hadn’t been able to eat without throwing up for 4 weeks.
Javette was taken to the hospital and the doctors found severe swelling and what he thought was a mass in her stomach. She was transported to Deaconess in Indiana for treatment.
Her primary 1st diagnosis was she has a severe infection in her abdomen and they would insert drains to empty it. After almost a full day of the drains filling up consistently it was decided to re scan her. In this scan the surgeon saw a hole in her colon.
They ended up taking 12” of her colon and put in a reversible colostomy. In the meantime my brother missed a week of work and was fired for being with his wife who was told had been within a couple of days of death.
They had 2 months of bill money saved and are running out of funds. Curt is interviewing for jobs but right now they could use help. She still has to go through the reversal surgery that will be scheduled in 6 weeks if she continues to improve.
