Support Jaunice Minor's Road to Recovery

On August 4th, my mother, Jaunice Minor's life was halted when she had an Aortic Dissection. An aortic dissection is a medical emergency in which the inner layer of the large blood vessel branching off the heart (aorta) tears. She had an 8-hour emergency open-heart surgery. At this time, the doctor said she only had a 50% chance to survive this surgery with massive complications that could affect her if she did survive. She did survive the surgery, but she suffered a severe stroke that affected multiple areas of her brain. She spent an entire month in the ICU at the U of U, where at this point, it was believed she would need to be in a Long Term Care Facility because she would not follow any verbal commands or do anything besides open her eye and push herself up on the bed. Towards the start of September, she began to follow verbal commands and communicate non-verbally. She did wake up with a trach and a feeding tube to help her get nutrition and to help her breathe. From the start of September until October 23rd, she was on the CVMU floor of the U of U, where she received intensive therapy for PT, OT, and Speech! She also received a TVAR surgery to finish up the healing from her first complications. Then from October 23rd until November 2nd, she will be at IMC in Murray, where she has completed Inpatient Rehab, and from there, she will need home health rehab and, in the future, outpatient rehab to continue to get better. She is still affected by Broca's Aphasia, affecting her speech, limitations on walking from the stroke, and limitations of moving her right side. She also will have to eventually get a procedure to take care of her leaking Aortic Valve and to reposition her sternum after her surgeries. Having just recently lost her job on October 31st, she will be having to pay all insurance from her disability as well as huge hospital bills and regular bills as well. With being in the hospital since August 4th, these bills will be very expensive. I am her only son and will be her caretaker at home until she recovers enough to be able to take care of herself. I am asking for help because me and my family need it and this has been such a hard time but we will make it through this! If you can help, it would be so appreciated. If you can't, just a share and prayer for my mom is also appreciated. I understand life is hard for everyone, but your help could help alleviate an already stressful and scary situation. Thank you for considering helping my mom and keeping her in your thoughts!
