My name is Mrs. Porter and I am the STEAM Lab teacher at Viera Charter School. Our beloved class pet Jasper is in need of a tail amputation. Towards the end of September I noticed the tip of Jasper's tail had turn black, within a day, this piece fell off. I took Jasper to the vet and they let me know he had what was called "tail rot". This happens because at some point during the shedding process his skin did not fall off properly causing constriction which led to a lack of blood flow to the tip of his tail.
We hoped the tail rot wouldn't spread as he still had feeling in the tip that remained, but within just a couple days this piece turned black indicating the tail rot is spreading. In order to save Jasper and give him a healthy quality of life the Vet will need to amputate a part of his tail (just a few inches past the infection site). Jasper's surgery is scheduled for Wednesday October 8th. We’re told the surgery could cost anywhere from $700-$1500 so our goal is set at $1000.
I am asking for help in covering the cost for Jasper's surgery. The donations collected here will help cover the cost I've put upfront for his surgery.
Jasper is incredibly loved and cherished by all of our students. They absolute joy they feel and the looks upon their faces when they see him warms my heart and theirs. You can tell its the best part of their day. And seeing the students is the best part of his. He is always more lively an active at school and sits right at the front of his tank so he can watch them in class. Let's help make sure Jasper is a part of our STEAM family for years to come.
Thank you for your time and help with this.
Forever grateful,
Mrs. Porter
