My name is Jeremy Lay.
On August 19th, my brother Jason had his life change forever. In what he believed would be the end of a long battle with alcohol addiction, he was struck by a vehicle on the interstate. By the grace of God, a stranger driving by stopped, rushed to his side, and saved his life. Without their quick action, he would not be here with us today.
While we are endlessly grateful he survived, his injuries are severe and life-altering. He was rushed to the hospital, placed on a ventilator, and immediately underwent multiple surgeries. His injuries include:
Multiple broken bones in his spine, ribs, arms, and legs
A collapsed lung that required a chest tube
A fractured skull and sinus bone
Serious liver damage and an injury to his colon
A large soft tissue injury near his shoulder and knee
Burns and wounds that required surgical cleaning and packing
Since that day, he has already endured several surgeries, including emergency abdominal surgery, repair of broken bones with metal rods, and procedures to stabilize his injuries. He faces more surgeries, long hospital stays, rehabilitation, and months—if not years—of recovery ahead.
My brother’s medical bills are mostly covered by insurance. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help him fight his addiction so that he can be at peace and live a productive life. For this reason, we are asking for help and support, whether that’s through a donation, a share of this fundraiser, or simply keeping him in your thoughts and prayers. Every contribution will go directly toward any unpaid portion of his medical care, rehabilitation, and giving him the best chance at healing and rebuilding his life.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time.
