Support Jason's Miraculous Recovery Journey

Jason Shedden is a proud father of two young boys (12 and 9 years old) and has worked hard in the landscaping and construction business for over 25 years.
Jason died 17 times on July 24, 2024. He had congestive heart failure and was hospitalized with new onset atrial fibrillation when he heart stopped. The doctor in the hospital said he would not make it, but he was miraculously revived each time from 16 codes by the incredible doctors and nurses at North Bay. He then survived a helicopter flight to Tampa General Hospital, arriving at the Cath Lab just minutes before dying and revived again.
Jason was in a coma, on a ventilator, ECMO and Impella device for a month. The doctors told us they had never seen anyone survive 17 codes. But Jason showed an unprecedented will to live. He awakened from his coma and was taken off life support in late August. But his test was just beginning.
In the ICU he contracted pneumonia, had a fungal infection on his face, experienced kidney failure and was on continuous dialysis and lost circulation to both legs. Attempting to heal each of these conditions with a compromised heart was extraordinarily complicated. But Jason and the TGH team faced each challenge with grace and courage. After another month in the hospital, he survived the pneumonia and restored heart and kidney function. His face infection began to improve with multiple surgeries and one of his legs regained some circulation. It was an amazing recovery.
But Jason lost his right leg. In late September 2024, the gangrene in his right leg was unrecoverable and the surgeons amputated his right leg below the knee. In the face of such adversity, Jason responded with incredible humility and humor.
Another month in the hospital and rehab Jason was finally home in November 2024.
Jason’s four-month medical battle in the hospital was hard fought and is still ongoing. Now he needs our help. He is living with his parents at their non-profit farm, Healing Hearts Farm in Hernando, FL. Jason’s landlord evicted him when he was in a coma in the hospital. His surgical site is healing slowing after a second surgery was required a few weeks ago due to an infection. Once the infection and wound are completely healed he will begin being fitting for a prosthetic. This is a very long process and time consuming process and can take up to 12 months, preventing him from getting back into the workforce right now. He is eager to begin work again, but his face and leg must heal, he has to be independent with his prosthetic and regain his strength. Thankfully his heart is stronger than it has been in 5 years!
He has no income currently and has some required prescribed medications not covered by his insurance that are hundreds of dollars each month, multiple doctors visits each week that require high co-pays and other medical equipment and supplies that insurance does not cover.
His family and two young boys are navigating an incredibly difficult situation. The money will go directly to Jason and his boys. We all thank you for taking the time to read his story of uncommon courage and the power of love. Any donation is greatly appreciated by Jason and his boys.
