Help Support Jason's Fight After Massive Stroke
Donation protected
Hi, I want to first thank you for taking the time to read my story. My name is Chenoa, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my dad, Jason. My dad is just 61 yrs old. Unfortunately, this Thanksgiving, he suffered a devastating stroke that has completely changed his life & ours overnight. He was found unresponsive at home. Not knowing how long it had been from the time of the stroke to the time he was found has made things more difficult. The Doctor went as far as asking us if we just wanted them to leave him be in his room so that he could pass away peacefully. They didn't have very much hope for him to come out of this okay.
After being in a coma for over a month he's finally awake and able to follow commands the nurses are giving him. He had to have a tracheotomy done as well as he's still on a ventilator.
He has faced health challenges before, including mini-strokes, diabetes, and high blood pressure, which made him vulnerable to this devastating event. On top of all that, his kidneys have totally shut down and he's having to do dialysis every other day now.
Today 12/31 he's being transferred to an acute in-patient rehabilitation center so they can work on getting him off the ventilator and work with speech therapy, occupational, and physical therapy sessions. We're still unsure how this has affected his memory and cognitive skills.
My family and I are incredibly grateful that he’s still with us, his journey to recovery will be long and challenging, involving extensive rehabilitation and significant medical expenses. He will need 24 hour care when he comes home. The estimated cost of treatment for a stroke survivor can vary significantly in the U.S., but it averages around $60,000. At this point, it is to early to determine how long will be in the hospital or what he'll need next in his recovery journey.
Asking for help is a powerful reminder that no one needs to face challenges alone. It takes courage to reach out, strengthening the bonds we share with others.
I'm reaching out to the community asking for support because me being the oldest out of his children, everything falls back on me. I'm the only one that is going to be able to care for him and his aftercare. I'm don't have the funds to be able to make it, I'm only working a part time job and lucky to get 10 hours a week at work. I know that I am going to need help and the right support can turn a moment of struggle into a story of success.
Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.
The funds raised will help cover:
Out-of-pocket medical expenses
Transportation costs to and from medical appointments
Basic living expenses including food and clothing
Household bills during this period of unemployment
Future medical procedures and ongoing rehabilitation costs
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in my father's recovery journey. We are deeply grateful for your support and kind thoughts during this difficult time.
Please share our story.
