Jason and I have been best friends since we played hockey together in elementary school. Over the years, we’ve shared countless memories, and I’ve always admired his strength and kindness. This past fall, Jason received a life-changing diagnosis: Stage III Thymic Carcinoma Squamous Cell Type. The tumor in his chest is dangerously close to his aorta and invading the SVC, making his situation especially serious. Despite going through several cycles of chemotherapy, the tumor has not responded, and today, Jason is undergoing a major surgery at the University of Minnesota in hopes of removing it.

Throughout this journey, Jason’s courage has been unwavering, but the challenges have been immense. The financial strain on his family is growing, with mounting medical bills, hotel expenses for Heather as she stays near Jason during his hospitalization, and the daily costs that don’t pause during recovery. Jason’s focus is on healing and being there for his young family, but the burden of these expenses is heavy.
