A few days ago, our dear friend Jason was in a serious motorcycle accident that left him with an incredibly rare and life-threatening injury—internal decapitation. Miraculously, he made it to the hospital on his own and underwent emergency surgery at Elmhurst Medical Center in Queens. Against all odds, the operation was successful, and he’s now in recovery in the Surgical ICU.
Jason has already been hospitalized for about a week and will remain in inpatient care for 2–3 more weeks of intensive rehabilitation. At one point, seven different specialists were involved in his care and successfully executed a C2 Spinal Surgery to save him from life long paralysis. While his condition has stabilized, the medical and recovery expenses are mounting quickly.
We are launching this fundraiser to help support Jason during his long road to recovery. We’ve set an initial goal of $6,000-10,000 to cover immediate medical costs, rehabilitation support, and basic living expenses while he’s unable to work. Once we receive more detailed cost information from the hospital’s social worker, we may adjust the goal to reflect his full needs.
Jason is a beloved member of the NYC food industry as a respected chef and we just want to see him back on the line doing what he loves again.
