Support Jason Vander Zanden's Recovery Journey

Our husband, son, father, and friend, Jason Vander Zanden, had back surgery on January 19, 2024. Upon awakening from surgery, it was discovered that Jason could not move his lower extremities and had to be transported on that day to Froedtert Hospital. Two days later, he had further surgery in an attempt to regain nerve function. After spending 6 weeks in Froedtert's rehabilitation hospital, he started to regain some function but remains wheelchair dependent.
Prior to this, Jason worked at Legacy Flexo Printing. Although this company was very supportive during this medical ordeal, eventually they could no longer hold his job. As a result, Jason's insurance eventually ran out. Jason is no longer able to drive.
Jason and his family live in a quad-level home and he was not able to return to his home. Jason is now staying with his parents in their single-level home. Visits with his family now take place in his garage or at his parent's residence.
Substantial medical costs have accumulated.
