Support Jason Steinfeldt’s Fight Against Stage 4 Lung Cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amber and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of Jason’s Cancer fight. Jason is married to my cousin Kayla.

Here is Jason’s story:

On Friday, July 19th, 2024 Jason and Kayla were both at work excited to get home to get things ready for their daughter’s birthday party that weekend. Jason texted Kayla saying he wasn’t feeling well and he noticed a large amount of blood in his stool. So he went home early and laid down. When the amount of blood worsened, Kayla convinced him to go to the ER.

Labs were taken and a CT was done. The ER provider came back saying there was no active bleeding but it showed a 2.7cm mass on his lower lobe of his left lung and she already put in the referral to have a lung biopsy done. They admitted him based on the amount of blood that was lost and he had to have an endoscopy done. The next morning, Jason had the endoscopy and they found an ulcer in his small intestines. He was then discharged later that day.

On July 24th Jason went in for his biopsy. He and his family prayed. On July 26th Jason received the worst news and was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma. It’s lung cancer.

On July 30th Jason and Kayla met with an oncologist with the Bellin Cancer Team and set up appointments to have a PET scan, CT scan and a brain MRI done.

August 19th was life altering, Jason was diagnosed with incurable Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma non- small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that is in 5 lymph nodes and metastasized into his T12 of his spine.

On September 3rd, Jason started his first round of treatment which was 5 high doses of radiation to the T12 of his spine.

On September 16th Jason started Chemotherapy 1x every 3 weeks and Radiation everyday Monday through Friday for 6 1/2 weeks.

Jason has his good days and bad days but he is feeling grateful he is able to enjoy time with his family.

We are all asking the question why? Why Jason, he is a healthy, fun loving, outdoorsy kind of guy … he loves his hunting and fishing more than the average guy as his wife would say! But he loves his family the most! Jason is a loving husband to his wife Kayla, who he has been married to for 11 years and they been together for almost 17 years and in that time they have created a beautiful life, full of adventures with their 3 kids Jaidyn -19, Hunter-15, and Emma-9.

The past 2 1/2 months have been an emotional roller coaster for Jason & his family. It's going to be a long, bumpy road but Jason will fight like hell with all he has!

We have started this GoFundMe page to help Jason and Kayla with all of these unexpected medical expenses they are about to endure thru this journey.

More information to come for a benefit for Jason in the near future.

Thank you for all the love, support and prayers for the Steinfeldt Family!
