As many of you know, our friend of many years - Jason R. Williams - also known as ‘Biobillionair’, was suddenly called home to God on May 22, 2024.
For those of us who knew Jason, he was a passionate individual about the things in which he believed, whether it was his family, his job as a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), or the ability of the public to receive the best healthcare possible. It was in this arena – healthcare - that Jason’s work was instrumental in the efforts in the birth of the EPA Drug Initiative. EPADI, created in 2013, was the answer to Amarin investors devastating financial loss when the FDA denied Amarin Pharmaceuticals application to have its flagship drug ‘Vascepa’ approved for widespread pharmacological use in the U.S.
Over the ensuing years, EPADI members worked together to overturn the FDA’s 2013 decision, as well as the decision of the U.S. District Court in Nevada to cancel the validity of Amarin’s ‘Vascepa’ patents. Jason, along with other EPADI members, spent thousands of hours over the decade petitioning the FDA, Congress, and the U.S. Courts with various remedies to right the wrongs done to so many Amarin investors and patients seeking access to Vascepa.
When Jason died, he left behind his children Connor and Callista who are both in college. While a memorial fund has been already been established by Jason’s family for the education of his children at Old National Bank in Madison, with the family’s permission, EPADI members have started a separate fund in order that we may show our support to Jason and those he leaves behind. It is believed that this separate effort will facilitate the donation process for those of us who want to contribute to Jason’s children’s education. All funds raised through this group effort will go directly into the previously mentioned memorial fund already established by the family.
A Celebration of Life for Jason will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the West Baraboo Village Forest from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, and the family invites those who loved him to join.
