Support Jason O'Steen's Road to Recovery After Brain Surgery

Donation protected
Hi everyone, This is Jason O'Steen, an avid fisherman and tireless artificial bait maker and car salesman. His 2 boys, Carter (12) and Keaton (9) O'Steen, family, girlfriend and close friends are working tirelessly to get his life back to normal after a few crazy weeks of bacterial infections and chaos. We wanted to set up this fundraiser on their behalf to help pay for doctor bills, co-pays, trips, medications and everyday bills.
On July 17th he was admitted to St Vincent's Southside hospital in Jacksonville Florida after roughly 3 months of on again and off again ear infections in his left ear, neck pain and headaches. He was put on strong IV antibiotics and pain medications over the next 36hrs. Things drastically changed on July 19th when he was unable to understand or acknowledge simple things and nothing made sense. This was quickly followed by a seizure that morning. After many tests, CT scans, MRI of his brain, and blood tests resulted in an emergency Temporal Craniotomy. Eliminating the cerebral abscess that had spread from his ear to the left side of the brain. The next 2 days was spent in ICU after the surgery, following a week in the hospital on non-stop, oral and IV antibiotics and medications.
He was then sent home with a PICC line for those IV antibiotics on July 26th. Every 8 hours (3xday) for the next 5 weeks, with August 30th being the last day. There are also several back and forth appointments within the next few weeks with the ENT, Neurosurgeon, and Infectious disease all in Jacksonville, 2 and a half hours from his home.
He will be out of work for the next approximate 8-12 weeks and will briefly be applying for short term disability and any other help getting life back to normal in the next couple days and weeks...if at all possible.
After the surgery and few days of IV meds, his neck and headache seem to be improving. He has been sent home with his girlfriend Kimberly who is a CNA and has been with him every moment since his trip from Douglas Georgia to Jacksonville Fl. and given oral meds for pain to continue us to the next level.
As of now, we are not sure how long this recovery process will take. We are starting this fundraiser to hopefully help him with his pilling up expenses like rent, utilities, and bills. On behalf of Jason, Carter and Keaton, Thank you!! If you cannot donate, prayers work also! Please pray for his boys as they've never known him to deal with any medical issues or not be a outstanding father. Again many prayers are greatly appreciated. Thank you again and hope we get him back on the right track.
