Support Jason Connolly: Victim of Gun Violence
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Clarice, and I am asking for support to help my brother Jason get back on his feet after becoming a victim of a violent crime.
In Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 2nd, 2022, Jason and our mother, who suffers from dementia, were a couple of blocks from his house when they happened to walk past a complete stranger that would forever change his life.
Thankfully, a local restaurant has the entire interaction on camera, showing that no actions on behalf of my brother warranted what was to come.
We are hopeful that the legal system will continue to prosecute the assailant for choosing to unload his gun and putting five bullets into my brother's body.
Jason has spent the last 21 days in the hospital after four major surgeries (estimated at $75k each) to:
- Remove the bullet in his left lung
- Repair his small intestines
- Remove a large amount of his colon
- Reconstruct his right forearm and
- Monitor and drain the infection from the bullet remaining in his pelvis.
Jason has had to have a $20k painful wound-vac on to help heal his 10inch by 4inch long wound site and will continue to wear one for the next four weeks until he has another surgery for his skin graft.
There has been so much damage to my little brother's small frame that we cannot even comprehend how long this road to recovery may be. But we do know that we cannot do it without you and a solid felt sense of community!
Whether you are a stranger to him, know one of us, or have had the pleasure of getting to know Jason... He is an incredible soul who cannot do this without an army on his side. He has brought nothing but smiles to the faces of those around him who he chooses to invest in, and I hope this helps ease the financial burden and put a smile back in his heart.
Please join me in aiding in covering medical bills (listed above), food costs, pain management alternatives, therapy and, after some time recovering with our godsend of an aunt, helping my brother as he continues to create a new version of life from here.
We are beyond grateful and thank you all so much in advance for your generosity in whatever form that may come in!
