Hi! My name is Talan Champ, and I am Jason's son. About a month ago, Dad started exhibiting signs that something was wrong. It began with him forgetting simple things, such as his address and internet password. As time passed, he struggled with his ability to communicate, whether talking or texting, and he suffered from terrible headaches. Ultimately, the family decided he needed to go to urgent care. After an examination, the doctors decided he needed a CAT scan, which revealed that he had a massive brain tumor. He was taken by ambulance to Roper St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley. On Tuesday, March 4th, my dad had surgery to remove the tumor which lasted six hours. We are awaiting the lab results from oncology to determine the outlook and the next steps. He was released from the hospital and sent home today, March 7th.
Prior to this, my dad was a sole proprietor business owner, power washing homes and businesses. Truly, he was a one-man show. We aren't sure how my dad is going to manage financially right now as there are many unanswered questions. We don't know how long his recovery will take, what kind of physical therapy he'll need, or for how long. We do know that he'll be starting chemotherapy and radiation treatments in April.
This has been incredibly tough for our family, especially since we lost my grandfather at the end of last year. Those who know Jason know that he has a great soul. He always puts family first and is a loving father to my sister Kaylie Champ and I. My dad is not the kind of person to ever ask for help. Please consider making a donation to help our family through this difficult time. We appreciate everything and ask for your prayers.
God bless!
