Support Jason and His Family on the Road to Recovery
Hi, I'm Melanie Whitehead, Jason Whitehead's wife. On Thursday night, early Friday morning around 12:30 am, Jason was in a serious motorcycle accident. He was taken to Salisbury PRMC and then transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma for surgery. He suffers from many broken and fractured bones, mainly in his pelvis and right arm. He underwent a 6-hour surgery Friday evening to repair the bones with screws. He will be on a no-weight restriction on his pelvis for at least 6 weeks. This will leave him in a wheelchair for some time. He is still currently in the hospital and receiving some physical therapy while still there.
He remains in good spirits through it all. He is a strong man, mentally and physically. If you are familiar with our situation, you know we have 2 little boys now. A 3-year-old named Jason Jr. and a 2-year-old named Lincoln, along with their older siblings Liam (11) and Sophia (13). We are also expecting our third in October. During my pregnancies, I remain sick the majority of the time with morning sickness and debilitating migraines. I also have high blood pressure and am at high risk for preeclampsia stemming from my firstborn. Therefore, it leaves me unable to work a regular position. And after his release, I will be in charge of his daily care and routines.
Along with our car being unsafe to drive with the littles and breaking down a couple of weeks before his accident, I need to have it worked on and can't afford parts and labor. We had a rough winter with limited hours. On top of our regular living expenses, now we are incurring medical ones as well. With all the other expenses, we are reaching out for help with medical bills and regular daily living expenses.
