Over Labor Day weekend, Sarah, Jason, Liam, and their two dogs traveled to Granville, Vermont, to spend time together at Sheila’s mountain home and celebrate Liam’s 20th birthday.

On the evening of September 5th, there was a tragic accident. Sarah, Liam, and their beloved dog Lilly lost their lives. Sheila, Sarah’s mother, suffered critical injuries and remains in critical care out of state. Her dog, Ellie, also suffered serious injuries and continues to receive veterinary care.

In a matter of moments, Jason lost his wife of 22 years, his only son, their beloved family dog, and a place filled with some of their most treasured memories.

Sarah was an extraordinary woman who devoted her life to the people and causes she loved. She was a loving wife, a fiercely devoted mother, protective daughter, and a passionate advocate for Liam and others with special needs. She worked hard throughout her career and was pursuing her dream of earning her college degree. But above all, Sarah was Jason’s soulmate and Liam’s greatest champion.

Liam was a gentle, kindhearted young man with a smile that could light up a room. He loved music, art, swimming, the outdoors, and participating in Special Olympics. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Lilly, their loyal black lab and beloved member of the family, also lost her life in the tragedy.

There are simply no words to describe the depth of this loss or the days ahead for Jason and his family.

We are creating this GoFundMe to surround Jason with love and support and to help ease the financial burden during this devastating time. Donations will help with funeral and memorial expenses, travel and lodging while being with Sheila in Boston, immediate living expenses, veterinary care, and the many unexpected costs that come with such an unimaginable tragedy.

Jason has never been one to ask for help. We are deeply humbled by the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and support that has already surrounded him and our family. Every act of kindness means more than words can express.
