Hello! My name is Jasmin, I’m 29, and I live in Connecticut with my mom and our cat, Mitzi. I’m passionate about writing and I love art.

I was born with a rare disease known as FOP (Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva) and diagnosed at 5 1/2 years old. FOP causes extra bone to form over my skeletal muscles and connective tissues, which greatly restricts mobility over time.

In 2019 I experienced major flare-ups in both of my legs. I had to stay at the hospital for three weeks, and then transferred to a skilled nursing facility for 17 months. This FOP progression ultimately took away the majority of my mobility and independence. Prior to these leg flare-ups I was able to travel on my own, attend concerts with friends, and take care of my basic needs (dressing, meal preparation, etc.).

I’m now primarily bed bound and fully dependent on my mom and other caregivers. I’m unable to walk, move my body freely, sit down, or stand straight.

Your generous donation* will be directly deposited into my irrevocable Special Needs Trust to support my ongoing medical and health needs. These needs include:

— supplemental home care to allow me to stay in the comfort of my home and not go back to a nursing home

— purchasing essential healthcare items not covered by insurance

— purchasing equipment to improve my overall health (such as an air purifier)

— supporting my overall quality of life in bed
