Can you imagine having a level 10 headache almost every day in a year while also having severe fatigue? This has been my reality for the year of 2025.
I thought 2025 would be the year where I finally got back to work after two years of debilitating fatigue and several other health issues. In 2023, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). At the time, I did not know how challenging and disruptive the fatigue would be. For two years, I sought help from my neurologist and tried to apply for jobs. On a lucky day, I would submit a job application and pass out soon after.
Each time I applied to a job, I was both equally worried and hopeful. Maybe my fatigue would resolve before I got a call for an interview. Maybe my fatigue would be persistent, and I would not have the energy to even do an interview.
I didn’t hear back from the jobs I applied for. October 2024 I got a continuous positive airway pressure machine, otherwise known as a CPAP which helped me feel more alert. Prior to the machine, I wasn’t breathing properly at night or during naps, so I was “resting, but not sleeping.” Unfortunately, exhaustion came back fairly quickly. I participated in a clinical trial that used modafinil in January 2025 to help alleviate the fatigue. This may or may not have caused my usual migraines to become more painful, chronic, and resistant to medication since I could have received a placebo.
I’ve been denied disability income numerous times over these three years.
As a result of self advocacy, I think that I am at a place where I can manage my health conditions.
In the latter half of 2025, home physical therapy helped alleviate my fatigue. On January 23 2026, I had a steroid injection to help with the migraines I experience. So far it is helpful, but I’m not sure how long the effects will last. I also have more medication options after seeing a migraine specialist days before this procedure.
A year of testing solution after solution for these painful migraines has been mentally and emotionally exhausting. I am asking for financial support as I recover and hopefully get back to work. This money will allow me to afford the following items:
-hygiene items
-vitamins
-CPAP supplies
-Transportation and more
