On May 17, 2026, Jasmine suffered life-threatening injuries after a large tree limb fell and struck her. With the quick response of a friend, emergency services, and the expertise of surgeons at UC Davis Medical Center, Jasmine survived and has been stabilized. She is currently healing from a severe spinal cord injury, fractured vertebrae, and broken and bruised ribs. Her lower body is currently paralyzed, but some sensation in her legs remains. The road ahead will be long as she moves through the stages of recovery, physical therapy, and adjusting to a new normal.
This fundraiser is not for the organizer. It was created by Jasmine's close friend, Lauren Kelleher, who is organizing and updating the page on Jasmine's behalf. Jasmine's father, Andy Mayer, is the beneficiary. He has raised Jasmine on his own since she was six and has always been her primary support. She is currently covered as a dependent on his employer's health insurance.
Donations are received by Andy Mayer, who will place the majority of the funds into a third-party special needs trust being established for Jasmine's benefit (expected to be finalized in early July). Every dollar will go toward Jasmine's recovery and care. A portion will be used right away to cover care and relocation costs the family has already incurred.
Specifically, the funds will help with:
- Continued rehabilitation. After five surgeries and four weeks in the hospital, Jasmine has begun inpatient therapy at UC Davis Rehabilitation Hospital. Insurance has authorized a limited stay of three weeks, and Andy expects to pay out of pocket to continue her access to intensive physical and occupational therapy she needs for the best possible recovery.
- Mobility and adaptive equipment insurance won't cover. An ultralight everyday wheelchair and a rugged all-terrain chair, so Jasmine, who loves camping, road trips, the gym, and being outdoors, can keep living the active life she's built.
- An accessible vehicle and accessible housing, so Jasmine can travel safely and come home to a place that meets her needs.
- Transportation to and from medical and therapy appointments.
Even the current goal of $100,000 will be stretched quickly by the long road of spinal cord injury recovery. Every contribution and every share makes a real difference for Jasmine and her family. Thank you.
