Support Jasmine Askew’s Brain Cancer Fight
Donation protected
Jasmine Askew, a 38-year-old paramedic, has always dedicated her life to caring for others in her community. In December, her world changed when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare and aggressive brain cancer that is especially uncommon in adults. After major brain surgery, doctors were able to remove most of the tumor, but a small portion remains on her spinal cord, making further surgery too risky. Since then, Jasmine has faced a series of challenges, including Post-operative Cerebellar Mutism Syndrome (PCCMS), which affects her speech, coordination, and ability to function each day. She now experiences constant dizziness, intense fatigue, nausea, and cognitive difficulties. Even simple activities like walking or preparing meals have become impossible, and she is unable to enjoy food due to frequent regurgitation.
Jasmine’s love for her work as a paramedic and her role as an active mom in the community has been abruptly taken from her. She is now a single mother to Tay and Kenzie, who love art and wrestling. Jasmine is doing everything she can to provide stability for her children, but the financial strain is overwhelming. Many of the medications she needs to manage her symptoms are not covered by insurance, and she struggles to afford basic living expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries. Gas for medical appointments and support for her children’s school and sports activities are also ongoing needs.
Jasmine’s goal is to fight this cancer, but it’s incredibly hard because her doctors don’t have clear answers—only treatments to help manage her never-ending symptoms. Despite these hardships, Jasmine is taking things one day at a time, holding on to hope and cherishing every moment she can with Tay and Kenzie. Support from this fundraiser would help relieve some of the financial stress, allowing Jasmine to focus on her recovery and her family. Any contribution, whether through donations, shares, or words of encouragement, would mean the world to Jasmine and her children as they navigate this difficult journey together.
