Help Jase fight Neuroblastoma

Donation protected
Dearest Friends and Family,

We have been overwhelmed with the support everyone has shown for Danielle, Josh and Jase.  This GoFundMe page has been set up for anyone who has wanted to make a donation and to do so electronically. On behalf of Danielle and Josh we wrote this letter…

If there’s a more disgusting term than pediatric cancer, we’ve not heard of it.  And it’s been so scary to have it hit our family.  Jase Russell celebrated his 3rd birthday on December 3rd.  Danielle, Josh, and Jase began the fight for Jase’s life just 2 weeks later when he was diagnosed with neuroblastoma.

Jase underwent emergency brain surgery just 2 days before Christmas.  The outcome was so positive that all floors of Children’s Hospital were gossiping about the miracle.  Jase’s smile the very next day was all the proof needed that it was, indeed, a miracle.  The Russell-Sullivan family celebrated this past Christmas alongside Jase in Children’s Hospital.  He felt well enough, for a little while there, to be able to sneak in a couple hours playing trains with his cousins and flirting with the nurses.  His spirit taught us all a lot this past holiday season.

My gosh, our Jase-e-boy… the little dude is tough as nails and has proven to be so much stronger than anyone ever imagined.  He has responded very well to both the treatment he’s received by the gifted doctors at Children’s Hospital, and by the astoundingly-loving care he’s received from his parents, Josh and Danielle.  It has been remarkable to witness Jase interact with his doctors, nurses and especially his parents these last few weeks.  This has proven to be a very bright spot amid a difficult time for everyone.

While the brain surgery was a success, it was also just the start of a very aggressive treatment plan.  His treatment will last for 18 months or more.  Jase has already undergone 2 rounds of chemotherapy (his next round beginning Feb. 14th with more planned).  He has at least 1 more surgery, stem cell replenishment and radiation also included in his treatment plan.  The doctors have given much hope for a bright future for Jase.  And “treatment to cure” is a phrase we’ve heard repeatedly and have latched onto.

All of this has been quite expensive and will remain so for the unforeseen future.  Danielle has had to stop working in order to care for Jase.  So that Josh and Danielle can continue to focus on Jase, we are hoping to alleviate some of the financial stress and burden placed on their family by the consistent flow of medical bills and loss of income from Danielle having to stop working

The support Josh and Danielle have received from friends and family thus far has been significant and ongoing throughout this battle.  This means so much to Danielle and Josh and provided them the hope and strength they need to continue to do so much for their son.

Please continue to keep Jase in your thoughts and prayers as he fights this thing.

From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!
