Hi, my name is Julie, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my son, Jaryd Owen. On May 19th, 2025, Jaryd was severely injured in a grease fire. In that terrifying moment, his only thought was to put out the flames and protect his 2-year-old son.

Jaryd suffered third-degree burns to his right hand and forearm and has already undergone three surgeries in this last week. He remains in the ICU, and at this time, we don’t know when he’ll be discharged.

Jaryd is right-handed and has always had a passion for cooking. He’s spent many years working as a cook and most recently as a meat cutter. Sadly, due to the severity of his injuries, it’s uncertain whether he’ll be able to return to the profession he loves. He faces a long road to recovery, which may include additional surgeries, physical therapy, and continued medical care—not to mention the emotional trauma of the experience.

Jaryd is a devoted single father to his three boys and is the primary caregiver. He was already behind on his mortgage before the accident, and now, unable to work or drive, he’s struggling to keep a roof over their heads.
