Founded in 2019 on a simple but radical belief — that quality higher education should be within reach of every young Somali, regardless of where they come from or what their family can afford — Jariiban International University is a nonprofit institution serving students in the Jariiban district and Mudug Region of Somalia.

We are training the nurses, engineers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and public servants who will shape this nation's next chapter. And we need your support to continue.

The challenge

Talented young Somalis face formidable barriers: poverty, fragile infrastructure, scarce academic resources, and the ongoing weight of instability. These are not excuses — they are the reality our students navigate every day to show up and learn. JIU exists to meet them where they are, and we work every day to keep our doors open.
