On Sunday, January 10th, Jarell was attending a family member's vigil when everyone in attendance was attacked by gunfire. Jarell was shot twice in the back (once in the pelvis and once near the heart). One of his cousins was also shot in the foot. Jarell was able to run and jump into his mother's car where he was raced to the hospital. The doctors have all said that he is lucky to be alive! 

Jarell is an incredibly hard worker and goes above and beyond in supporting his family and friends. This incident will have a huge impact on Jarell's ability to work in the near future. He was scheduled to head to California in the next couple of weeks to secure a final license in a series of construction-related licenses he's been pursuing. He was also recently admitted to a local construction union and has been getting started with various jobs. As Jarell heals, we want to rally behind him and ensure that he has the financial support he needs to pay his hospital bills and bills in general, since he will not be able to pursue the training/work he was slated to. 

There is still an active investigation into who shot Jarell and attacked his family during an already devastating event. Despite that, Jarell remains in good spirits and has been communicative while he's at the hospital. We are truly grateful that he is still here with all of us!
