On the morning of February 24th, 2026, I found Jared standing in our bedroom looking confused and unable to figure out how to put his robe on. He told me he was just tired, but after a few minutes of watching him and trying to talk to him (and against his wishes), I called 911. Jared was having a stroke in the left side of his brain. By the time the paramedics arrived, he had complete paralysis on the right side. He could not talk or walk. He was flown to Phoenix by helicopter and taken into surgery to remove a clot from the left side of his brain.

The surgery went well. They let me bring him home 2 days later because we have no stairs and I work from home. The first few weeks were hard, but we are adjusting to our new life. He has been in physical, occupational, and speech therapy. He has regained full strength on the right side, and he can carry on a conversation with very little struggling (unless he is tired). PRAISE GOD!! He is struggling with Aphasia and Apraxia; they are both results of the stroke. He has a hard time with saying certain letters and words (Aphasia) and getting them from his brain to print (Apraxia).

He is on FMLA through his work until July as of now, to keep his insurance. Jared's job relies on him being able to communicate with customers. His speech therapist is optimistic that he will recover from this. Most people with this stroke cannot speak at all at first, and Jared is already way ahead in his recovery, but it could take a couple or several months. He is ineligible for unemployment with his condition, and Social Security isn't possible unless the doctors think his condition(s) will last more than 12 months or result in death. I am still working part-time out of our home trying to keep some kind of income coming in. My time to work is limited because I have to take him to six therapy appointments a week. He just started to drive short trips and is doing great. Dad is helping when he can. Thank you, Daddy❤️ I'm also helping him with lessons on days with no speech therapy to keep him working at it.

Jared has exhausted all PTO and vacation time, and we are now no longer receiving his income. We are doing our best, but we could use some help. Please continue to pray for us in this uncertain season. This could have been much worse. But my God is an awesome God! Jared is walking, talking, and GAINING every day.

Funds will help cover mortgage, utilities, groceries, and recovery expenses while he is unable to work following his stroke.

Please keep us in your prayers, they ARE working.

All my love,
Kasey
