My name is Jara-Taray Ridgley, and I recently experienced a life-changing accident while working at Smithfield Foods as a forklift operator. Back In August I was crushed between two forklifts, resulting in the loss of the lower half of my left leg. This year my life was on an awesome path, In June I activated my MD Real Estate license and began association with Keller Williams Gateway just to have my plans derailed suddenly. This accident has been so detrimental to my world as someone who has always been a hard worker who is very active and absolutely enjoyed the outdoors, this accident has COMPLETELY changed my daily life and my ability to provide for my family. My teenage children have been incredibly impacted and very supportive, but this new reality has been difficult for all of us as we adjust together.
Since the accident, I have faced a mountain of medical bills, ongoing prescription costs, and the need for reliable transportation to get to my many doctor appointments. I am currently in a wheelchair and recently had railings installed inside and outside of my home to help me move around more safely. I am looking forward to healing enough to receive a prosthetic, but for now, I am focused on recovery and making sure my family has what we need to survive.
I am reaching out for help because I am worried about losing my home and my vehicle, both of which are essential for my family’s stability and my ongoing care. Any donations will help me cover medical expenses, keep up with prescriptions for the severe phantom pain, and ensure I can attend all necessary appointments.
