My dad is one of the hardest-working, most easygoing men I know. He has spent years working at Union Pacific, quietly providing for our family and never asking for much in return. When he’s not working, he’s happiest outdoors hunting or fishing, watching football, spending time with family, or loving on his dog. He is the proud dad of two daughters, four stepdaughters, and one stepson. With that comes a whole crew of grandchildren who absolutely adore their grandpa. Family has always been everything to him.
Right now, he is facing the toughest fight of his life. Since February 2nd, he has been hospitalized at UNMC, nearly two hours from home. His liver is failing, and his kidneys have also been struggling to keep up. The medical team is working hard to stabilize him and determine if he can be placed on the transplant list. We are hopeful that his kidneys will recover and stabilize so he can return home soon, but there are still many unknowns ahead. The ups and downs have been incredibly hard on all of us. Jane has been by his side every single day. She has stepped fully into the role of caregiver and has not been able to work for weeks.
Between hospital bills, insurance costs, travel back and forth, food while staying near the hospital, medications, and regular household expenses, the financial strain has grown quickly on top of the emotional toll. We are asking for help so that financial stress does not become another burden during this already overwhelming season. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward medical expenses and supporting my dad and Jane as they walk this road. If you are unable to give, prayers and sharing this page mean just as much to our family. We truly believe he still has more hunting trips, family dinners, and grandkid memories ahead of him. Thank you for standing with us and giving my dad hope for more time with the people who love him most.
