Support Jan's Legal Battle for Her Mother's Care

My friend Jan was the health agent for her Mom and Dad, both of whom had Alzheimer’s. The professional fiduciary who became Trustee of their Family Trust wouldn’t respect Jan’s choices about her parents’ care, preventing her from moving them to a higher level of care or getting better care in their home. Recently, Jan’s father died from a possibly preventable accident. Her mother fell again and suffered an injury shortly after her husband’s death, and Jan spent five weeks in their home nursing her mother while involved in legal struggles.

Several thousand dollars in legal fees later, Jan won the right to bring her mother to an excellent memory unit just up the hill from her, but her fight continues. Jan is a disabled senior on a fixed income who can’t afford these expenses. I’m establishing this fund to pay for legal fees for Jan’s fight for her mother’s care and for transparency in the administration of the Steckel Family Trust, and for occasional purchases of necessary goods and services for her mother that aren’t being provided.
