My name is Amanda Edwards. I am from Newton, NC and I'm starting this page to help my dear friend, Jann Godwin recover from Hurricane Helene. She and her son David, who is disabled and paralyzed on one side, live in Little Switzerland, NC and were hit hard during this storm as many were. David's disabilities make evacuation even more complicated. They have lost vehicles, have damage to David's home and so much more.
It is difficult for Jann to ask for help, but if someone else needs her, she will drop everything... I have seen this many times, but personally experienced it when we lost my Dad. My Mom made one call to Jann to let her know of his passing and a few hours later, without us having to ask, she was at our home taking care of things and supporting us for the next several days.
Jann's career and passion was being a realtor in the area. Her motto has always been, "Little Switzerland, a wonderful place to visit, we can help you live here." As you can imagine, that is going to be a hard sale in the coming months and possibly years.
Jann and David are going to need a lot of help to get through this difficult time. They are getting a few supplies from current relief efforts, but that will end shortly and they still need to pay bills to keep their homes and transportation. If they can't keep paying their insurance premiums, it won't pay for the damage done during the storm.
Jann's friends and former clients have asked how they can help and suggested we setup this page. If you would like to help Jann, please contribute. Anything will make a difference.
