I’ve created this fundraiser to help support Janis and her young family during the coming year of chemo and medical visits for our rainbow, Janis.
For those of you who don't know Janis, she has a vibrant energy that radiates happiness and laughter to everyone in her presence. You will definitely hear her before you see her! She's the life of the party, her great sense of humour and positive outlook on life is contagious. Janis is the kindest person, who will help you even if she's never met you. Now it's our time to help this incredible women, wife and mother go in for the fight of her life to kick this cancer in the butt!

Janis was first diagnosed with a Schwannoma Tumour in 2019 with her first surgery on 31 August 2020. After 19 days in hospital recovering she was sent home. In April 2021 Janis had a follow up MRI which showed small residual left over from first operation. This resulted in them seeing the tumour had started to grow back slowly. Janis started getting severe pain back in late October 2021 so another scan was ordered November. This scan found a second new tumour growing beside the first one and was doubled in size and growing aggressively. She was booked for immediate surgery 10 of January 2022. The MRI was repeated the day before surgery only to see in four weeks the tumours had grown rapidly. Surgery went well however three weeks post surgery Janis developed breathing pain and was sent in an ambulance to Emerald hospital where they found two more growths and fluid on her lungs and was air lifted to Townsville hospital.
Janis is waiting for specialists to arrive from Brisbane on Monday to discuss and plan treatment over the coming months including chemo, radiation and potentially another surgery. I will update you as we know more.
In the meantime Brendan has been working where he can to support his family financially and trying to complete his fourth year apprenticeship, all while trying to be by his wife's side as much as he can and also holding it together and keeping as much normality as possible for his 3 beautiful children.
The medical bills are adding up and I hope as a community we can all come together to offer one less burden to this amazing family during this heartbreaking year ahead.
