Janie and I have been neighbors and friends for over 20 years. She is one of the most caring and sweet people I know, always there for others and never asking for anything in return. Our families have shared so many memories together, and I’ve seen firsthand how much she means to everyone around her.
Six years ago, Janie had a heart valve replacement. Recently, she started feeling tired and short of breath. After seeing her cardiologist and undergoing tests, it was discovered that she needed another heart valve replacement. While waiting for her surgery, Janie became weaker and developed fluid in her lungs and around her heart. She was admitted to the hospital two days before her scheduled open heart surgery. During a CT scan, she went into cardiac arrest and was placed on ECMO and a ventilator. Janie has been in the ICU for the last month, now with a trachea and feeding tube, unable to support herself or talk. She is moving to an ICU rehabilitation facility for physical and occupational therapy. Once she has completed her physical and occupational therapy at the ICU rehabilitation facility she will move to a long term care facility. With Janie’s perseverance, our support and prayers we are hoping that Janie will be able to come home again where she belongs.
Janie and Jason are very private people who would never ask for anything. With Janie unable to work, the bills and medical care are starting to stack up. It would mean the world to Janie if her family and friends could help take some of the stress of the cost of her care from Jason. I know Janie would be so grateful for any support, and I can just hear her saying, 'Love you guys!' Thank you for considering helping Janie during this incredibly difficult time.
