Hello, my name is Jessie. I am starting this Go Fund Me for my best friend Janie Korma. In late May, she suffered a debilitating stroke caused by a blood clot in her brain. She has lost use of her right leg and arm, suffered severe memory loss and is unable to do everyday tasks like go to the bathroom without help. As of right now we are working to find a rehabilitation center that will accept her.
As I am sure everyone in this day and age knows that even with health insurance, medical bills pile up. More so when you are unable to work. Janie has been on her feet every day working long hours serving, bartending, and managing several Thai, Ramen and Sushi based restaurants in Indianapolis for many years now. This stroke may forever make it impossible for her to return to that line of work, and if she is able to it could be months to even years before she is able to fully function in the service industry again. But car payments, rent, phone payments, these do not go on pause just because you are sick.
This Go Fund Me is to help balance her life expenses, manage medical bills and pay for her rehabilitation that insurance and the hospital is refusing to help her with. Janie has been a support to the Thai community, a friend to those in the food service industry, and a great person all around. What has happened to her is an extraordinarily unfortunate, and we hope to gather help to support her as she works to move past this.
As of right now, we are struggling to get her into a rehabilitation facility due to the lack of support from the hospital and insurance companies, who have made it clear they will not help unless she can financially cover it herself. Obviously, rehab is the best step forward when it comes to an illness like this. With your help, we can provide her with enough financial stability to be able to get into that rehab facility and find some stability again.
All money donated will go directly to her bank account and no one else's. If you have any resources that can potentially help in our endeavors to support Janie's recovery, please reach out.
