Janie has been at Moffitt Cancer Center since just before Thanksgiving fighting a very rare reaction to the medication she was receiving for graft vs host disease. Her leukemia is in remission, but this rare reaction she is having now has left her unable to breathe or swallow on her own. A week ago, the doctors started her on a trial medication that may well reverse things and allow her to return to herself, but her Medicare will run out immediately after her 4th and final dose, March 20, and she will have to leave Moffitt. Her only viable option is to come home and receive home health care. There is a lot of expense associated with this and no one knows how long it may take for this new medication to make a difference. I will never abandon here for financial reasons but any help you can provide will be a godsend as we approach this new reality. Thank you
